Location: The History of Gut Ellernwurth Gut Ellernwurth in Wremen (today municipality Wurster Nordseeküste in Cuxhaven district) is one of the most distinctive historical farm complexes on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast. Particularly striking is the approximately 40-meter-high tower, which gives the estate an almost castle-like appearance and is visible from far away. Origins The current estate was built in 1922 as a generously planned three-sided farm. The complex was created at a time when high-performance agricultural operations in the fertile marsh areas were modernized and developed representatively. The four buildings are grouped around a large courtyard and are accessible via a long chestnut tree-lined avenue. After World War II, the estate returned to agricultural use. Over the decades, however, it has been used in very different ways: * Dairy farming operation * Horse breeding * Temporary café and event venue * Training facility Starting in 1963, a wooden crate factory for fruit and vegetable crates was established in the former riding hall, which provided numerous jobs in Wremen for many decades. This business finally ended in 2019 after the sale of the estate. Since 2019, Gut Ellernwurth has been used again as a horse stud farm. After extensive renovations, Spanish horse breeding (PRE) was re-established there. The property thus regained a use that is well-suited to its historical architecture. Today Gut Ellernwurth is today considered one of the best-known historical estates on the Wurster North Sea coast.
